SeaDream Yacht Club will debut its first Asian cruise in October 2013.
The yacht voyages will target couples between the ages of 35 to 65 years old. Asian voyages range from $3,999 per person for a seven-night to $9,999 per person for a 14-night voyage.
"Whether you crave the peace and tranquility of undiscovered beaches and islands or the exhilarating energy and buzz of foreign cities, Asia offers something for everyone," said SeaDream's president Bob Lepisto.
Itineraries include ports of Asian countries. They include:
- Sri Lanka
- Thailand
- Malaysia
- Singapore
- Myanmar
- east Timor
- Northern Australia
- Indonesia
- New Guinea
- Vietnam
- Cambodia
- Hong Kong
In 2013, the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) determined travel demand for 42 destinations within the Asia Pacific regions, with an increase of around 7.5 percent. Increases include Southeast Asia.
"It must also be recognized that the new wave of Asian travelers are surprising many operators in terms of their increasingly sophisticated demands and their ability to expect and pay for the very best," said John Koldowski, deputy CEO and Head from the Office of Strategy Management, PATA.
Each SeaDream voyage, devoted to Asia, offers unique port of calls. The highlights include:
- Seeing giant monitor lizards on Komodo Island
- Exploring the world heritage site of Halong Bay, Vietnam - one of the seven natural wonders of the world
- Diving the vibrant underwater paradise of Thailand's Similan Islands National Park
"This is very exotic ... it's not any old cruise to the Bahamas! You are traveling to the Far East, immersing yourself in ancient history. The language, cuisine, architecture, customs, religions are all very different from other parts of the world. There is nothing else quite like it," said Adrienne d'Annunzio, manager of corporate communications and guest relations of SeaDream Yacht Club.
Tip 1: Do a little research about the regions you are considering, so you fully understand what you'll be seeing. You want to be prepared for cultures very different from your own.
Tip 2: A traveler on any of these Asian voyages should participate in some of the Shore Excursions arranged by SeaDream.
