The Huntsville Depot museum is the location of the Visions of Vets Project. This project has a goal to design a mural in downtown Huntsville to be dedicated on Veterans' Day 2013.
The Visions of Vets mural will feature 1300 veterans from around the Tennessee Valley. The pictures of these veterans will create a design honoring these veterans. Several designs are being considered, and the final mural will be revealed on Veterans' Day 2013, at which time we will know the final design for the mural.
How to participate
Those who have a picture of a family member who is a veteran can send their picture in to be included in the mural. The cost for each picture to be included in the mural is $25. To submit the picture online, visit the website for the project here. Photos can also be carried by EarlyWorks Museum in downtown Huntsville as well as at Sutherland's Photo located on Whitesburg Drive.
Gateway to the memorial
The mural is part of a larger project to build a gateway between the Huntsville Depot Museum and the Huntsville-Madison County Veterans Memorial. That gateway will also be dedicated on Veterans' Day 2013.
The Visions of Vets mural is a great way to honor the veterans in our local community. Huntsville is proud to honor those who have served our country and those who are still serving today.
