The leaves have peaked for this year’s fall foliage and are mainly on the ground. The temperature is dropping daily and the sun is setting earlier. All of this is making many residents in the Washington metropolitan area long for balmy sunny days on the beach. Well guess what? An additional option has arrived to make that dream an affordable reality with the entrance in the market of Vision Airlines.
The charter airline service will begin offering non-stop flights on Nov. 4, every Sunday and Thursday, from Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport to the numerous white, rippled, sandy beaches in Freeport, Grand Bahama Island. According to a spokesperson for the airline, Vision will use a Boeing 737 jet for the twice-weekly flights, which will take less than two hours each way and will start as low as $99.
The airline will offer air/hotel package deals that could be as low as $160 for a three night stay, depending on what hotel a traveler selects, to up to slightly over $400. A five-night hotel package starts at $399 and seven-night stays start at $609. Double occupancy is required and additional taxes and fees will apply.
Hotel choices include Pelican Bay at Lucaya, an upscale property with a European flair, located on the marina across the street from the beach. Every room has a water view. There’s also the Radisson’s Grand Lucayan beachfront resort, with a mixture of luxury art deco and Bahamian décor. The resort is located in the heart of Lucaya on seven acres of white sand, eclipsed by pristine, blue water.
