The story of a Visine poisoning is making top news headlines today, as ABC News reported this Saturday, March 9, that a woman is currently trying to recover this week once officials announced she was poisoned after her boyfriend secretly put Visine eye drops into her drink.
Under the headline, “Man arrested after alleged Visine poisoning”, sources report that Shayne Carpenter, an aptly named mechanic of 27, was recently arrested by police for domestic violence and attempted poisoning. Police noted that following a serious fight with his girlfriend, Carpenter decided to put the eye drops into one of her drinks, leading her to fall very ill.
The man’s girlfriend grew suspicious of what happened after she discovered texts on her boyfriend’s phone to some of his buddies that his “prank” hadn’t gone as planned.
"He was making texts to his buddies that if 'She's going to be talking crap then she's going to be crapping,'" confirmed an officer.
After seeing the texts, the Calif. woman called the police, and Carpenter admitted to the alleged Visine poisoning later that day.
"We got admissions from him over the phone, when he was admitting to her, that he had done this," said one officer.
The girlfriend was treated at a local hospital and released, while Shayne Carpenter posted bail this Friday for $25,000.
