Virus alert: FBI. ATTENTION! Your browser has been blocked up for safety reasons listed below. All activities of this computer have been recorded
When I saw this “FBI. ATTENTION! Your browser has been blocked up for safety reasons listed below. All activities of this computer have been recorded” scam link as a trending topic on Alexa.com’s “What’s Hot” list, I knew it was some kind of popular thing that’s probably trying to scare the be-Jesus out of people, a link I don’t recommend you visit:
With its dire warnings, people are probably freaking out a little upon seeing this warning:
You are accused of viewing/storage and/or dissemination of banned pornography (child pornography/zoophilia/rape etc). You have violated World Declaration on non-proliferation of child pornography. You are accused of committing the crime envisaged by Article 161 of United States of America criminal law. | Article 161 of United States of America criminal law provides for the punishment of deprivation of liberty for terms from 5 to 11 years. (stop.police-guardian.com)
Well, a quick Who.is checking into the domain shows it was just registered on December 26, 2013:
Domain Name: POLICE-GUARDIAN.COM
Registry Domain ID: NA
Creation Date: 2013-12-26 00:44:00Z
Registrar Registration Expiration Date: 2014-12-26 00:44:00Z
Registrar: ENOM, INC.
Registrar Abuse Contact Email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Registrar Abuse Contact Phone: +1.4252744500
I suspect lots of people will be visiting that “abuse contact email” address to let Name Cheap know what people are doing with their domains.
A Google search of the “All activities of this computer have been recorded” message also turns up ways to reportedly rid your computer of the potential virus.
