Virtual Training Volume 7: 'Posture Podz' Frequent Traveler Workout

From Williamsburg to Virginia Beach, Hampton Roads has truly become a popular travel destination to the world.  Literally thousands of hotel rooms exist bringing frequent travelers to the area daily.  Adequate space, enough time, and weather conditions are roadblocks the active nomad may face.   

Posture Podz may the perfect travel companion to enable an effecient full body workout within the limited confines of any hotel room.   No other exercise apparatus is necessary for this particular workout.

Posture Podz foster correct posture, increase intensity, and are low impact simultaneously.  Most people think of posture as being from the waist up, but in actuality correct posture alignment extends from head to toe. The key to good posture is creating endurance of posture focused muscles in order to maintain sustained engagement isometrically.  The 'Posture Podz' Frequent Traveler Workout fosters posture endurance.

In this episode of the 'Peaceful Warrior', Zero 7 demonstrates 4 upper body posture specific exercises. 

  • 'Vertical and Cross Vertical Reaches' to elongate the core muscles. Focus on reaching from the waist. 
  • 'Scapular Squeezes' to improve the anatomical posture of the shoulder girdle.  Focus on bringing the shoulders back and squeezing both shoulder blades together.
  • 'I don't knows' to strengthen the rhomboids and elongate the pectorals.  Focus on keeping your elbows in tight and your palms up.

Each exercise is to be done for 3 sets and 15 repetitions (30 or double the reps on the Vertical and Cross Vertical Reaches).  Take a 1 to 3 minute recovery period between each set.  Change the order of exercises each set to enhance muscle confusion.  Your workout should take about 15 to 20 minutes to complete.

If you are unable to complete 15 repetitions, then do 10 reps initially.  Eventually work up to 4 sets for 20 reps giving you 480 body movements in about 20 minutes.
