For the first time ever, Destination Races is bringing The Wine Country Half-Marathon series to Loudoun County, Virginia. Within just weeks of registration opening, this event has sold out!
Though brand new to our area, Wine Country races have been in the works since 2004, beginning in Napa Valley, CA. The event begins and ends at the Beaux Winery just outside of Leesburg, VA. Runners will travel throughout the backroads of the scenic wine country along a gently rolling course. After finishing, runners will enjoy a post race party of music, food and of course, wine.
This event is sold out! Only a 100 spots are available via lottery. Winners will be announced March 1st. The ONLY way to run this one-of-a-kind event is to sign up through Team Challenge of the CCFA-A non-profit organization dedicated to finding the cure for Crohn's and Colitis.
“Our races are uniquely designed to promote fun and fitness, while showcasing the scenic beauty and wines in each distinctive regional experience,” said Matt Dockstader, president of Destination Races to the Washington Running Post. “Running participation is at an unprecedented level, but we purposely limit our race field to 3,000 runners or less—2,000 in Virginia—so we can offer a more exclusive experience and the finest in wine country hospitality.”
