Four outstanding programs have reached the semifinals of what has been a very exciting ACC (basketball) Tournament 2014. Courtesy of a March 14, CBS report, the Virginia vs. Pittsburgh game is first up on the live streaming schedule at TheACC, and has a TV start time of 1 p.m. EST (12 p.m. CST/11 a.m. MST/10 a.m. PST) on big ESPN.

For the antepenultimate time, Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, N.C., will be the site for this afternoon’s showdown between the top-seeded (26-6, Conf: 16-2) Virginia Cavaliers and the No.5 team in the ACC Tourney, the (25-8, Conf: 11-7) Pittsburgh Panthers.

NCAA basketball fans can watch the action live on ESPN following ESPN GameDay at Noon (DirecTV channel 206). Opening tipoff is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. EST and will also be streaming live and 100 percent (no subscription required) free of charge at TheACC.com.

For Virginia, Tony Bennett’s team comes in fresh off a 64-51 victory over Florida State in yesterday’s quarterfinals. Led by Joe Harris’ 20 points, the Cavs were able to get back in the win column following a stunning defeat at the hands of Maryland in the regular season finale.

“We really just wanted to go out there and prove to everybody that we deserve to be here, we deserve the No. 1 seed,” said Anthony Gill, Virginia’s second leading scorer for the game (16).

For Pittsburgh, being the fifth-seed meant Jamie Dixon & Co. had to get through two tough opponents in order to reach the semifinals. The Panthers did just that, thrashing Wake Forest (84-55) before shocking the fourth-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels last night (80-75).

“They’re confident in how they’re playing right now,” Dixon said. “I think that comes and goes with teams. But that’s where we’re at right now and it’s a good time to be doing that.”

According to NCAA basketball oddsmakers, a single long-distance bucket separates these teams when it comes to betting against the spread. Las Vegas latest figures have Virginia [-3] favored by a three-pointer versus Pittsburgh [+3], and the OVER/UNDER is set at a combined total of 120 points.
