Caroline High School, in Caroline County, Virginia, is mourning the deaths of not one but two teens in the span of one week. Students had grief counselors on hand after last week’s death of Thomas “Tommy” Wheeler, who died unexpectedly after collapsing during gym class. Students will have grief counselors again after the off-campus death of Cierra Moore.
According to WTVR Richmond, Moore, who is in the 9th grade, died on Monday, October 21. Caroline County Schools confirmed the death but details about her death were not made public. “This is an ongoing investigation that did not happen on school property,” Caroline Sheriff Tony Lippa wrote in an email on Monday. “Since the person is a juvenile no further information at this time will be disseminated, confirmed or denied.”
In a show of honor and support, Caroline students will wear yellow to school on Friday, October 25. Students recently completed an evening vigil to honor Wheeler. Other schools in the Fredericksburg area run pledges and events to honor students and teens who died while still in their school careers.
