On Friday, WAVY News published a disturbing case of animal cruelty in Virginia Beach, Va.
Joshua P. Curry, 33, is accused of abusing his 15-year-old dog, "Hershey," and then dumping her body into a lake near his Blue Knob Road home.
According to a spokesperson with the Virginia Beach Animal Control, Hershey's body was wrapped with a ten-foot, heavy chain.
A necropsy on the dog's body revealed further suffering, including a broken jaw and significant bruising from the chain.
Investigators determined that the elderly dog had been choked and bound in the chain prior to being dumped in the water. A door to door search led investigators to identify Curry as the abused dog's owner.
Curry was arrested on Feb. 27 on charges of felony animal cruelty and improper burial of a dead animal - he has already been released on bond.
