The US Supreme Court resumed its work today, despite the federal government shutdown, and it began by tossing out hundreds of appeals, one of which was an attempt by the state of Virginia to revive its anti-sodomy law, an attempt to make, once again, oral and anal sex illegal.
This is just another backwards attempt by a state -stuck in a bigoted past- to pass laws that openly discriminate against same-sex couples attempting to make their sex lives illegal.
The irony of the Republican Party, a party that fights for smaller government trying to pass restrictive laws on what happens in the privacy of someone's bedroom between two consenting adults is not lost on those who oppose this law.
Laws such as this are unconstitutional from the start. They are sectarian attempts to pass through biblical laws and control the sex lives of citizens through the churches teachings.
This once again ignores the secular history of the United States and ignores the individual rights of the citizens. The Supreme Court is right to throw this case out and any other case like that tries to oppress the citizens of the US.
