Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
Friday, January 18 through Friday, January 25. Each year, Christian churches throughout the world observe the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. Observance often includes pulpit exchanges, ecumenical worship services, and prayer. Together the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity and the Commission on Faith and Order of the World Council of Churches prepare worship resources for use during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity and throughout the year. The theme for 2013 is "What does God require of us?" based on the scripture reading Micah 6:6-8.

Stories by the Sea
Friday, January 18 through Sunday, January 20. Virginia Beach United Methodist Church will welcome Bil Lepp, renowned storyteller and humorist. Lepp will perform as a storyteller on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m., present a workshop on Saturday at 9 a.m. (registration required), and deliver the message at all three worship services on Sunday morning. A Mid-Winter Revelry
Friday, January 18 at 7:30 p.m. Schola Cantorum of Virginia, a choral group, will perform at Eastern Shore Chapel Episcopal Church. Tickets are available at the event website.

World Religion Day
Sunday, January 20. World Religion Day is an annual holiday established by the National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá'ís of the United States. This holiday celebrates the unity and harmony of all religions. Some will celebrate with events and dialogues around the world and online, while others observe the holiday independently with prayer and reflection.
