The holiday season is upon us. Keep reading for some of this weekend's unique events to help you get in the holiday spirit.

"The Nutcracker"
Friday, Dec. 6 through Sunday, Dec. 8 at Chrysler Hall. The Richmond Ballet and the Virginia Symphony will perform in the famous ballet. Visit the event website for ticket information.

Cape Henry Lighthouse Grand Illumination
Friday, Dec. 6 at 5 p.m. For the first time, the annual illumination of the Cape Henry Lighthouse is open to the public. The event will also feature a choir and a band performing holiday music, bounce houses, and a visit from Santa. If you do not have a DoD decal, enter through Gate 8. Holiday Train Display
Friday, Dec. 6 through Friday, Dec. 13. Avalon Church of Christ will host the Tidewater Big Train Operators Model Train Show. Visit the church website for the schedule of this free event.

Bethlehem Walk
Friday, Dec. 6 through Sunday, Dec. 8. Visit King's Grant Presbyterian Church and step into Bethlehem over 2000 years ago. Read "Bethlehem Walk" to learn more about this extraordinary free event.

Reason for the Season Party
Friday, Dec. 6 from 7:30 p.m. to midnight. Join The Noblemen and The Roundtable of Business Leaders at the Virginia Aquarium for their holiday party. The event will include mermaid shows, live music, a silent auction, food, and fun. Get your tickets at the event website. Proceeds will benefit a children's toy drive and a mentoring program.

Holiday Parade at the Beach
Saturday, Dec. 7 at 5:30 p.m. Head down to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront for illuminated floats, marching bands, dance performers, and more. The parade will travel down Atlantic Avenue between 15th Street and 25th Street.

Holiday Lights at the Beach
Nightly beginning at 5:30 p.m. Drive down the Boardwalk from 2nd Street to 33rd Street and enjoy holiday light displays. For more information and images of this annual event, read "Holiday Lights at the Beach."

Barbershop Harmony Christmas Style
Sunday, Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. at Bayside Church of Christ. The Norfolk Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society will present performances of barbershop-style Christmas music. This event is free and open to the public.
