For all the lucky FreeFest fans who were able to nab free tickets through presales, the general sale or through volunteering this Saturday means a fun day full of music and good times. For some the festival has likely become a yearly tradition because this Saturday will mark the sixth Virgin Mobile Festival in the area (now known as Virgin Mobile FreeFest.) For the third year in a row the festival will be held at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD. Today the lineup schedule for the festival was released.
Much like in past years there will be three main stages. Grammy Award winning duo The Black Keys will bring their signature soulful rock sound to the 'Pavilion Stage' and be the final performers of the night on that stage at 10pm. On the 'Festival Stage' dance/house/progressive superstars Deadmau5 continue their rise to fame by closing out the second biggest stage at 11pm. Speaking of dance the third stage is the 'Dance Forest' stage where Ghostland Observatory will be the final act on that stage and will no doubt have people dancing in the dark until 10:45.
Gates open at 10am and the first acts take the stage at noon. While regular General Admission free tickets are all gone there are still a limited number of Virgin Mobile FreeFest Fan E-Paks available on the Freefest website for those interested in buying a ticket and getting some commemorative souvenirs as a bonus. As was the case in past years there may be a few tough choices when it comes to picking who to see but one thing is for sure there won’t be a boring moment for anyone in attendance. Also make sure to keep an eye out for festival creator Sir Richard Branson who has been known to make an appearance each year at the festival.
