It really comes as no surprise that Virgin America keeps on winning awards. The quirky, little California-based airline is just about the most fun to fly, has great flight attendants and a super on-time record. And, as one its frequent flyers, I can also attest to the food both in First Class (where it’s free) and in the back of the plane (you order right from a video at your seat which takes a credit card).

So the most recent prize to come its way, for the seventh year in a row actually, is from Travel + Leisure which name it top domestic airline. Virgin America received an official top score of 85.28 in the domestic airline category, which evaluates all airlines for cabin comfort, in-flight service, customer service and value. The airline will receive the honors along with the industry’s other winners at an awards ceremony on Thursday, July 24, 2014, in New York City.

And, get this, to thank the public they are offering fares starting at $47 but just for eight hours so hurry and click “Thanks for the Nice Buzz” 8-hour fare sale. Tickets must be purchased today (July 2, 2014) between 8:00am PT and 4:59pm PT. Main Cabin fares start from $47* (taxes and fees included, restrictions applying). Travel must occur between September 3, 2014-February 11, 2015. Tickets can be purchased on Virgin America’s website ( or at 1.877.FLY.VIRGIN (1.877.359.8474).

“Winning this award is one of the highest honors in our industry. This award is a credit to all 2,800 of Virgin America’s teammates and the work they do every day to elevate the flying experience for our guests.”
