Virgin America is bringing its award-winning service to New Jersey.
The San Francisco-based airline announced on Tuesday that it will launch service to Newark Liberty (EWR) on Apr. 2, 2013, with three daily nonstop roundtrip flights from both San Francisco (SFO) and Los Angeles (LAX). Newark will become the airline's 20th destination.
"We couldn't be more pleased to welcome more new flight options to Newark Airport,'' said Susan Baer, aviation director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. "More air service is a strong driver of regional economic development and jobs."
"As a low-fare carrier with new planes that look like nothing else in the skies, we hope our flights can offer some healthy competition and a better choice for travelers," said David Cush, President and CEO of Virgin America. "Just like in any industry, when more companies compete, consumers win."
The flight schedule from San Francisco is as follows:
Departs SFO 0800 1505 2115
Arrives EWR 1635 2340 0545 (+1)
The flight schedule from Newark is as follows:
Departs EWR 0730 1030 1730
Arrives SFO 1105 1405 2105
Newark flyers will also be able to connect to other Virgin America destinations, such as Las Vegas, Los Cabos, Palm Springs, Portland, San Diego and Seattle.
"This is a hugely important market and one that deserves more flight options," said Cush. "We are thankful to the Port Authority and the local leaders who were instrumental in making this happen and who had the vision to increase air service options at Newark Liberty."
Tickets are now available for purchase at www.virginamerica.com. To mark the expansion to Newark, the airline is offering a fare sale across its network through Dec. 14.
