Virgil's Creole seasoning recipe brings Mardi Gras flavor to everyday cooking

"True Louisiana Creole cooking is a mix of different styles, including French, Caribbean, and Spanish. As you might expect, spices play a big part in the cuisine, and that's why this rub features a festival of spices that makes for a little New Orleans Mardi Gras parade on your tongue."

  • 2 c seasoning salt
  • ½ c paprika
  • ½ c granulated garlic
  • ½ c cracked black pepper
  • 2 T granulated onion
  • 1 T cayenne
  • 1 T dried oregano
  • 1 T dried thyme


1. Thoroughly mix the ingredients together in a covered container. Cover and store in a cool dry place.
