The questions surrounding the Arena Football League are the same questions surrounding the beginning of the Alabama Vipers training camp.
As players reported to the team on Sunday, the Vipers learned what players will be donning the green and black this season, but how those players will fare has yet to be determined.
With such AFL veterans as Ahmad Hawkins and Jason Geathers, along with the plethora of veteran linemen, Alabama looks to make a strong run at a South division title.
The roster is stacked with AFL and NFL talent and head coach Dean Cokinos is excited about the season, saying that his team would be ready.
Wide Receiver and the defense will certainly be the strengths of the team this season.
With Willie Quinnie and All-AFL Ironman Jason Geathers at receiver along with C.J. Johnson, the receiving corps all have AFL experience and have put up superb numbers in previous seasons.
Kevin Eakin and Liam Coen have battled for the quarterback position, but Andrico Hines is expected to come in to compete this week.
At fullback, Dan Alexander will be the ball carrier. He rushed for 41 touchdowns as a member of the Nashville Kats while playing for Cokinos.
Defensively, the Vipers will see some very special players. Ahmad Hawkins and Travis Coleman will anchor the defensive backfield, both with AFL experience. Geathers is an All-AFL linebacker at 6'4" and will be the anchor up front.
The defensive line will be strong and quick, but a set lineup has not been determined.
With the season just now one week away, questions will be answered soon.
When the Vipers kick off against Bossier City on April 3, Alabama will enter into a new era of Arena Football.
And who cares what questions surround the team and league when the scoreboard is lighting up?
