Once again, violence has marred a NFL sporting event. Soon after the Denver Broncos’ 27-20 loss to the Chargers on Thursday night, three people were stabbed outside of Sports Authority Field. According to sportsline.com, via the Denver Police Department, one of the victims is in critical condition.
There are reports of a fourth victim in the incident, but they left the scene without receiving any treatment.
The timeline on the Denver Police Department’s twitter feed shows that all of the suspects were in custody. According to reports, the crime was called into authorities around 9:55 p.m. local time.
Here is a statement from Invesco Field's management personnel. "Stadium Management Company is aware of an incident that occurred in a parking lot adjacent to Sports Authority Field at Mile High," the statement said. "We are currently working with authorities to gather more information."
According to CBS Sports, authorities haven’t said whether or not fans were involved in the incident. The police don’t know what led to the incident, but if the alleged criminals were at the game, then it’s very possible that alcohol was involved.
The Broncos' loss put them into a tie for first place in the loss column. While they have won the tie breaker over Kansas City, Denver lost the tie breaker with New England. Hopefully, the outcome of the game wasn't the reason for the senseless violence.
