Vintage military vehicle convoy to commemorate D-Day 70th anniversary

On June 7, 2014, a convoy of WWII-era military vehicles will travel around the Salt Lake Valley to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Allied landings in the Normandy region of France.

The convoy will depart from Camp Williams, Utah, and travel north to Fort Douglas in Salt Lake City, Utah, via the west side of the Salt Lake Valley. After a brief stop at Fort Douglas, the convoy will then depart south returning to Camp Williams.

Vehicles in the convoy are authentic military vehicles from the 1940’s and 1950’s owned by private individuals. The convoy is estimated to be comprised of about 20-25 vehicles. The Utah National Guard is supporting this event and will be providing facilities for convoy participants at Camp Williams and will also be providing an escort of modern military Humvee vehicles.

Convoy Schedule is as follows:

  • 10:00 am – Departure from Camp Williams
  • 11:30 -12:00 – Estimated Arrival at Fort Douglas Military Museum (32 Potter Street, Salt Lake City)
  • 12:45 – Departure from Fort Douglas
  • 2:00 – 2:30 pm – Arrival at Camp Williams
