I have been collecting vintage Christmas decorating ideas ever since I read that one of my favorite illustrators, Mary Engelbreit likes to decorate her home for the holidays with vintage toys. It's such a sweet and nostalgic idea, and it immediately makes your home feel, well, homey, during the holidays.

Sources for Vintage Home Decor Ideas
One of the places that I look for vintage Christmas decorating ideas is on photo-sharing sites like Flickr. This is where I found the holiday table decorating ideas that I'm sharing in this article. They come from love Maegan on Flickr via Creative Commons.
Since the holiday table plays such a big role in holiday decorating, I was especially keen to add her ideas to my Christmas table centerpieces file. She uses a lot of what she calls Tiffany blue. Blue is a cool color, and it's likely that we associate blue with the winter season because of the quality of light during the colder months. The cold changes how we perceive light, making our days take on a blue cast.
About the Vintage Christmas Decorating Ideas in the Slideshow
While love Maegan's ideas are uniquely hers, you can recreate a similar arrangement on your Christmas table by replicating the decorative elements she used in the piece. Love Maegan balances out her blue items with some deep burgundies and browns. As you click through the slideshow for a closer look at her ideas, you'll notice that she created her Christmas table centerpiece from burgundy feathers, but you could use any tabletop Christmas tree. She sits this on top of a raised cake platter, which adds height and elegance to the piece. The glass bottom on the platter also adds an interesting visual touch, because anything she places under the platter can be seen from above.
All of these beautiful items were placed on a blue table runner, which added to the effect and pulled the table together. She also added pine cones, which gives the table more warm colors as well as some interesting textural elements. Finally, love Maegan adds beautiful blue and silver Christmas bulbs to her decorations to add a shiny contrast and pristine beauty to her holiday centerpiece.
