The entrance to the Palm Springs Convention Center doubled as a parking lot this afternoon as Modernism Week presented a vintage auto and classic car show. Held from noon to 3:00pm, this free event is always a crowd favorite and event attendees expressed enthusiasm for the vehicles by posing and taking photos.
Owners of the cars were on hand to answer any questions as well as interact with the thousands of modernists who descended upon the city. More than 60 classics were on display from the 1930s to 1980s.
Modernism Week’s mission is to celebrate and foster appreciation of mid-century architecture and design, as well as contemporary thinking in these fields, by encouraging education, preservation and sustainable modern living as represented in Palm Springs. Modernism Week’s signature February Event is an annual celebration of mid-century modern design, architecture, art, fashion, and culture. This exciting “festival” takes place in February in the Palm Springs area of Southern California. It features more than 100 events including the Modernism Show, home tours, films, lectures, double decker bus tours, parties, walking and bike tours, a pre-fab showcase, vintage fashion, live music events, a vintage travel trailer exhibition, and more.
