Vino's Picasso going to Lovegrove's waterside gardens to paint, pour, and play (Photos)

Matlacha artist Leoma Lovegrove is partnering with Vino's Picasso of Fort Myers to bring two 3-hour painting sessions to historical Matlacha. The sessions are scheduled for January 22, 2013 at Lovegrove Gallery & Gardens, 4637 Pine Island Rd. NW, Matlacha, Florida.

Matlacha is one of Southwest Florida's best kept secrets. It's an historic fishing village that locals now describe as a "quirky artists' haven." And Lovegrove Gallery & Gardens sets the tone for the entire gallery district with its flamingo pink roof, polka dotted walls and mix of art, pop sculpture and over-the-top gift ideas. The whimsical reflection of owner and entrepreneur Leoma Lovegrove, the gallery serves as her international headquarters, artist studio and island gift shoppe.

"The Matlacha Scream" will take place from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

"Matlacha Bubbly Fish" runs from 2:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Included in both workshops are all materials, instruction by popular Mercedes Price, and complimentary wine. No prior experience needed. Each session is $50.00, and participants will get to take home their very own masterpiece along with treasured memories of painting in Lovegrove's waterside gardens. It's also a great opportunity to drop in and see Matlacha's other artistic landmarks, which include Bert’s Pine Bay Gallery, Frills (featuring bead and other craft jewelry), Island Visions (colorful Floridian paintings and prints), Trader’s Hitching Post (Native American art and jewelry) and WildChild Art Gallery (serious to whimsical, beach scenes to wildlife and sea life motifs).

Lovegrove will also paint along with both classes.

Seating is limited, so call the gallery at 239-283-6453 for reservations or register on on-line at www.vinopicasso.com/calendar.
