Vineyards with a sugarbush & Maple in the County events

Maple in the County is the time of the year when Sugarbush Vineyards and Waupoos Estate Winery have an ace up their sleeves for wine tourists. In addition to wine tastings, tourists are invited to visit their their sugar bush and make maple taffy on the snow.

At Sugarbush Vineyards on the Wilson Road they have a 2.5 km trail through their sugarbush with a 100 trees being tapped. Outside their tasting room, the sap is boiled down the old fashioned way over a bonfire and kids are encouraged to make maple fudge s'mores. There are more maple goodies in their tasting room for sale along with samples of their estate grown wine. Weather permitting they hope to have a sled dog team and will be charging for dogsled rides around the sugarbush with proceeds going to charity.

Waupoos Winery on Country Road 8 in Cape Vesey also has a sizeable sugarbush, Visitors are invited to stroll the maple grove, enjoy their farm animals including chickens and miniature goats and make taffy on the snow (weather permitting) On Saturday and Sunday morning they will be dishing up a pancake breakfast buffet and from 11 am to 4 pm they will be offering a maple inspired buffet with Goodfellows maple ham and beans. There will be free tastings of their Estate wines and featuring their Maple Ice icewine.
