Vincent Powell's 'I Love You' wins judges on 'American Idol'

Vincent Powell gave a stirring performance during the last sudden death round on "American Idol" Thursday night.

Gracing the stage with a powerful rendition of "Cause I Love You" by Lenny Williams, Powell moved the judges, the audience and fellow "American Idol" star Zoanette Johnson with stage presence, vocal strength and undeniable soul.

"The crowd is summing it up. You came out here and just sang. I loved it," said a near speechless Keith Urban.

Claiming that the performance hit her somewhere, Nicki Minaj was surprised that Powell delivered as well as he did.

"You better work with your old soul. Vincent you know what, I was very surprised because you usually come off very old fashioned. Today it was a sexy old fashion. That hit me somewhere," said Minaj.

Randy Jackson agreed.

"I felt like the show started right there. Second of all dog, this is what I would call the whole complete package. That's the vibe right there," said Jackson. "Stick with that. We need that. That boy is in it to win it."

Keeping it short and sweet, Mariah Carey said "All I can say is finally. There we go."

With positive and consistent reviews from the judges, Vincent Powell was moved forward to the next stage of the competition.

Did you think his performance was powerful and was the best of the night?

"American Idol" returns Wednesday night at 8 p.m. on FOX.
