Vince Young does it again to Matt Leinart

Pete Carroll, who is all to familiar with Vince Young, was asked at his press conference whether he had a chance to catch Sunday's game and Vince Young’s performance.

The Trojans head coach did catch some of the game and, understandably, it was not an easy thing for him to do.

“I just saw a little bit. As a matter of fact, I saw mostly Vince Young, you know. I saw Vince in the last drive," said Carroll. "But that was for Trojan fans, you know, painful.”

They may have been coming from different cities and wearing different uniforms, but Sunday's game between the Arizona Cardinals and the Tennessee Titans featuring quarterbacks Matt Leinart and Vince Young, hit a little too close to home for Trojans’ fans.

Rewind to the 2006 Rose Bowl, a Leinart-led USC Trojans team took on Vince Young and the Texas Longhorns. The game featured everything you could want in a college football game, with two unbeaten teams vying for the championship, superstar college athletes, big plays and, of course, a dramatic finish.

Unfortunately for Matt Leinart the Trojans, the dramatic finish and late-game heroics were compliments of the Longhorns' Vince Young.

Fast-forward to Sunday and the game between the Cardinals and Titans, which featured the same two quarterbacks with Leinart under center for Arizona (replacing the injured Kurt Warner) and Young leading a surging Tennessee franchise.

This time around, Young used his arm instead of his legs, hitting Kenny Britt on fourth down with time winding down, to steal yet another victory out-from-under former Trojans' quarterback, Matt Leinart.

It was an outcome that would make even the tamest of Trojans' fans sick to their stomachs.

However, as tough as it was to watch Vince Young work his magic over a Matt Leinart-led team, at the end of the day we should be thankful for the chance of being able to watch these two competitors battle it out on the gridiron yet again.

Even as ugly a reminder as Sunday's game was, Coach Carroll found some silver lining in the game.

“I think not because it was cool to see him do it, but just the reminder that he had done it before in such classic fashion,” said Carroll. “It's pretty remarkable stuff. Pretty remarkable play. Just to see what Vince has done since he's come back in and started, you know.”

Remarkable indeed Coach, remarkable indeed.
