Vince Young appeared to have impressed the Green Bay Packers' top brass with his effort to earn the spot as the backup quarterback, but he was cut Saturday. This may come as a surprise to Packers' fans because Young looked like the obvious pick for the backup quarterback behind Aaron Rodgers, according to Yahoo Sports on Aug. 31.
It didn't take long for Young to take to Twitter and tweet a goodbye to the team and his fans. Vince Young tweeted:
“Thanks to the @packers for the opportunity great organization great team wonderful fans good luck this season.”
While a little short on punctuation, the tweet had nothing but good tidings for the team he was leaving. It's B.J. Coleman who will be the backup for Rodgers. Originally it was Graham Harrell who was the favorite for that spot, but he was cut and moved on over to the New York Jets rooster.
After being cut two years in a row in training camp by the Bills and the Packers, is this the end of Vince Young's NFL career? Will he get another chance? For a team in dire need of a quarterback, Young just might fit the bill.
