The camera in the chopper also displayed the "Hannibal the Conquerer" movie poster, so obviously this is a historical/period piece. For those who aren't familiar with the historical elements of this individual, Hannibal is of from Carthage and had a hatred for Rome.

He is known for his bloody tactics and would even give false intelligence to his enemies in order to gain an advantage. He often won battles, but didn't win the war. His disciplinarian methods were rather disturbing as if one of his soldiers had been a deserted, the soldier's family would be tortured and put to death.

This method often gained loyalty from his troops and power over his enemies. Hannibal even felt justified in his methods as this was blood revenge and with betrayal, comes punishment. Hannibal would even have captured Roman soldiers be put to the contest against an elephant and the ruthless general would tell the soldier if he were to win a fight against the elephant, he would be set free. Turns out, the soldier would win the fight, but Hannibal then realizes that this news cannot get out and has the Roman soldier slain anyhow to save face.
