The "Fast & Furious" star returns to his signature role for a third time and shared a teaser photo from the movie with his Facebook fans. The photo shows a troubled-looking Riddick seated upon a futuristic and dark throne.
The first movie in the franchise, Pitch Black was released in 2000. It was followed in 2004 by “The Chronicles of Riddick.” Rumors of another live-action film have been bandied about for years. Vin made this statement when he shared the photo on his Facebook wall:
"It has been 9 years since 'The Chronicles of Riddick' was released... all along I knew I would eventually have to return to that dark place, the mind of an Alpha Furyan..."
The new sci-fi action film will open in theaters and IMAX on Sept. 6 and is titled simply “Riddick.” The plot finds Riddick facing off against an alien race of predators. When an emergency beacon is activated, Riddick finds two ships answer its call. The first carries a new type of mercenary and the other has as its captain, a man from Riddick’s past.
Diesel coproduced the film. Joining him onscreen are Karl Urban, Katee Sackhoff, Bokeem Woodbine, Dave Bautista, Jordi Molla and Matt Nable.
Will you be in theaters on Sept. 6 to Vin Diesel in the new “Riddick.”
