According to ComicBook.com on Sunday, actor Vin Diesel has indeed likely landed him the best Marvel comic book character role by playing Groot in James Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy." That being said, members of the press made fun of Diesel thinking he got handed the rather lowest of the roles. Of course Diesel is probably laughing all the way to the bank on his prop Groot stilts and regardless of his three word line throughout the film. The contrary has proven otherwise.
Groot has stolen the show even on a global level. The character has one itself a line of toys as a potted dancing plat that is seen at the end of the film, dancing gleefully as Drax the Destroyer cleans his knife. In comparison, this could be the equivalant to the "Sesame Street's" Tickle Me Elmo. It wasn't known at first who did the motion capture for the dancing portion of the potted galactic Rocket sidekick, but it has been revealed that director Gunn was the one that provided the fluid and graceful movement of the beloved creature.
Trends with Groot has also started a buzzword called "grooting" where people act out the dance moves of Groot as seen in a recent video of director Gunn at the 2014 Atlanta Dragon Con instructing fans and cosplayers in the art of grooting. He joined his brother Sean as they lead the cosplay laden outdoor staircase. There was even a Groot in costume as designed by HurleyFX.
"Guardians of the Galaxy" is now touted the number one domestic box office movie and has even surpassed "Captain America: The Winter Soldier."
