The campaign for support towards Dani Alves has been nothing short of immense in the world of football and beyond. Individuals from different parts of the world have stepped up in a big way, despite reports from Marca saying that it was "staged" and "prepared by a Brazilian marketing company".

Now the family and friends of David Campayo, the individual that decided to throw the projectile in the direction of the Brazilian international, are now beginning a campaign to support him.

#TodosSomosDavid was begun in order to call to a stop to the public lynching of the 25-year-old.

"One thing was the act he committed. He should pay for it ," said the family spokesperson in an interview with news agency EFE. "It's another thing the public lynching he's receiving in such a disproportionate manner."

On Monday, Villarreal CF released a statement expressing their regret over what occurred and they also identified Campayo. They suspended Campayo from ever returning to El Madrigal for life.
