A Villa Rica man was hit by a car within minutes after being released from jail on a charge of public intoxication Saturday night in Douglasville.
He died four days later and Georgia state troopers on Thursday said they are still searching for the driver and the vehicle involved in the incident.
Mr. Gary Latimer, 41, was arrested and released about an hour later after posting bond Saturday night, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
He was struck while crossing Ga. 92, troopers said. It’s unclear if there were any witnesses to the wreck.
“Evidence found at the scene suggests that it could be brown or burgundy in color with damage to the front right side and mirror,” spokeswoman Ms. Tracey Watson said.
Anyone with information on the case should call the Georgia State Patrol at (770) 459-3661.
Authorities are offering a reward for any information leading to an arrest and prosecution of the driver.
