Vikings Stadium Groundbreaking

Finally the green light for the long sought Viking new stadium went on this morning inside the Dome with large mound of dirt for photo-ups. Among the attendees included the owners, Gov. Dayton, the out-going Minneapolis Mayor, R.K. Rybak, Minneapolis City council members, Adrian Peterson(for players), and a few hundreds die-hard fans were handy to scoop first breaking ground dirt.

It has been a long road walk leading to this morning ceremony. Many Viking fans had given up believing this will never happen, especially when the team offered no help generating positive fever among legislators who were exponentially drifting away at the rate of inflation due to inevitable competitive elections. When new stadium hopes seemed fading among Minnesotans and Viking organization thrown into disarray, Gov. Mark Dayton did the unthinkable. Instead of sitting on the sideline to watch the new stadium talks collapse, he dived in to safe it and made sure finances were available to get it done. So, it was fitting that he was handy also to witness the groundbreaking. On his remarks he said, "I'm glad it's over, and we won." Echoing Viking coach Frazier after the Viking vs Bear game in OT.

However, remnants of stinging wasps that nest at the state, not the state capital, but in hollow trees, buzzed around the state preaching doomsday that the state is coming with fangs sharper and deeper than an angry lion to tear a big junk off tax payers hard earned money to pay for the stadium. May be! Tax payers must be worried because one item, electronic pulltabs, (among many) proposed to raise stadium funds has been disastrous this far. Not many bar owners impressed the idea and even those who did now say, "it doesn't work."

Reasons why doomsayers might be correct, however the groundbreaking is on and construction will soon start in full stride. The believe is there will be enough money to keep the project on track despite of nearly every story surrounding the Wilfs or the stadium has been controversial. Construction is here and time will tell, Viking fans keep your eyes open.
