Vikings may bring Winfield back

The Vikings cut Antoine Winfield last week.

For now, Winfield is a former viking, but his coach is hoping to bring him back

"I'm hoping that we can figure out a way to get him back here," Leslie Frazier told Tom Pelissero of 1500ESPN.com. "So, I'm hoping that it's not goodbye yet."

Winfield has already started to schedule visits with other teams.

"Him and I talked a few days ago, before I came up here, and I don't want the door to be shut," Frazier said. "So, we're going to still try to get something worked out, if he's amicable to coming back."

The Vikings wanted Winfield to cut his compensation back on his $7.25 million and restructure his contract. Winfield did not want to give up as much money as the Vikings wanted so talks fell through. This results in Winfield being let go.

The Vikings currently need help at corner and would definately be able to use Winfield, even at a lesser role on the team. There are still plenty of corners out there on the market. They would most likely to be able to sign one of them for a lot less than a $7.25 million a year contract.
