Adrian Peterson's 2-year-old son is currently in critical condition after he was supposedly severely beaten by the man who is currently dating the mother of his child and is in a South Dakota hospital, according to TMZ on Oct. 10. The running back with the Minnesota Vikings immediately left the team to be with his son.
The suspect, 27-year-old Joseph Patterson, has been arrested and is being charged with aggravated felony assault and battery of an infant. When police arrived at the apartment where Peterson's son was staying at 5:46 p.m. on Oct. 9, they found the child unresponsive. He was swiftly taken to a nearby hospital and medical experts concluded that the injuries to the infant were typical of abuse. The child suffered from severe head injuries, according to police.
The suspect appeared in court, and his bond was set at $750,000. Patterson tried to cover his face from the cameras as much as possible.
At 10:16 a.m. PT on Oct. 10, a number of sources have indicated that Peterson's son is currently on life support and hasn't shown any brain activity since 5:30 p.m. last night. The family is closely monitoring his condition, and if he shows no improvement in 24 hours, the mother wishes to remove the life support and then donate her son's organs to people that need them.
Adrian Peterson addressed the media and stated that he is handling the situation privately. He maintains that he WILL be playing on Sunday with the Minnesota Vikings.
