On Saturday, May 14, 2011, Polk County 911 received a call from a motorist who was traveling westbound on Hwy 278 toward Cedartown in the Esom Hill area.
The caller informed Polk County 911 that they were following a Grey Crown Victoria with what appeared to be an intoxicated driver. The caller stated that the driver had almost caused several accidents. The caller stayed behind the vehicle and kept Polk County 911 informed on the whereabouts.
The suspect vehicle turned onto Akes Station Road and stopped the car in the middle of the road. According to the caller,the driver then got out of the car, stumbled around, got back into the car and made a u-turn. The complainant continued to follow the driver as he made a right hand turn onto Piedmont Highway towards Cedartown.
The Crown Vic turned left into the parking lot of the Country Store and the complainant also pulled into the parking lot keeping Polk County 911 informed while awaiting police. This caller was determined to assist police in detaining this driver, possibly saving the life of the driver as well as other motorist and pedestrains that may have gotten in his path.
Jackie Isiah Bridges, age 47, of 906 Shiloh Road in Esom Hill, Ga. was arrested by Polk County police and charged with driving while license withdrawn, felony possession of schedule IV drugs,drugs not in original container and bringing contraband across guard lines. Bridges also had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in Cedartown Municipal Court.
