[VIDEO] Will Smith skydives in Dubai

While most Hollywood celebrities welcomed the new year by hitting the gym, Will Smith said he "wanted to start 2014 off right" by skydiving in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The comedic and dramatic actor, producer and rapper posted a short video of his daring adventure on his Facebook page on January 24.

Within the first 24 hours of the public posting, tens of thousands of Facebook users shared the video, with hundreds of thousands indicating they liked the 1:22 spectacle.

Before climbing aboard the Skydive Dubai plane, Smith said, "I'm strangely calm." The amicable entertainer then boarded the craft that was crowded with fellow amateur skydivers.

Sporting a bright smile, Smith threw all caution to the wind and exited the plane in an exciting tandem jump over one of the most spectacular drop zones in the world.

The actor is best known for the memorable roles he played in the popular television series "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" and such blockbusters as "Independence Day" and "Men in Black."

As Smith and his skydiving partner fell to earth, Smith's point-of-view images were accompanied by the hit song, "Can't Hold Us," by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, featuring singer Ray Dalton.

At the end of the video, Smith wrote: "Special shoutout to all my new friends and new family in the U.A.E. I had the time of my life."
