Video: White House responds to former VP Dick Cheney's accusations of 'dithering' on Afghanistan

Yesterday Dick Cheney made news after accepting an award from conservative national security organization.  In delivering his acceptance speech the former Vice President stated that the Bush administration had already did a thorough report on Afghanistan before President Obama came into office.  Cheney then essentially accuses the Obama administration of plagiarizing that report and adopting many of its recommendations without giving credit to the previous administration.  Most accusatory however were Cheney's claims that President Obama is "dithering" on Afghanistan and risking American military lives in the process.

Today Press Secretary Robert Gibbs led off in his press conference by counter-attacking against the former Vice President.  Gibbs stated that Cheney was clearly not concerned with Afghanistan in the last seven years of the George W. Bush presidency.  What is implied in Gibbs statement is that Cheney was wrongly focused on Iraq instead of Afghanistan during the Bush years.  In addition Gibbs stated that what Cheney calls "dithering" on Afghanistan the President calls "solemn responsibility to the men and women in uniform and to the American public."  Gibbs further more made a poke at the Bush administrations invasion of Iraq when he said "I think we've all seen what happens when somebody doesn't take that responsibility seriously."

Just curious: If a few weeks of deliberating on exactly how to resoond to increased military needs AND a corrupt Afghan election is 'dithering,' what does Cheney consider six years of diverting resources from the home base used to attack us on 9/11 to engage in a separate war?

A corrupt Afghan election? Surely THAT was a surprise!
Just like Obama continues to blame Bush for every shortcoming of his administration, he has thick enough skin to take some of the same criticism GWB has gotten for 8+ years and counting... oh wait, Obama is trying to silence all of his critics.

Yes he is...please hold up your hand and keep it up until a secret service agent comes around to pick you up. Thank you for your cooperation.
