American Idol contestant Crystal Bowersox performed on Wednesday night's live broadcast after being hospitalized just 24 hours earlier for a diabetes-related health scare.
Bowersox, who has been one of the featured competitors in the early rounds of this season's American Idol competition, was advised by doctors not to perform as scheduled on Tuesday night. Idol producers switched the nights for the men's and women's competitions so that Crystal Bowersox could still have a chance to perform.
Bowersox sang a "gosepl-y church version" of Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Long as I Can See the Light" on Wednesday night and the American Idol judging panel seemed to think that she was worth the wait. Ellen Degeneres called Bowersox's talent "pure, natural and raw". "I completely misunderestimated you." Simon Cowell said: "I think we've got a really serious artist in you."
Crystal Bowersox showed no signs of physical distress during her performance. "I'm a tough cookie," she told the American Idol judges.

Comments
Crystal is raw, natural talent and it's been a long time coming. She took her hand out of her pocket and effectivel placed our hearts in that place. Crystal is a serious artist and has an amazingly edgy voice. America, don't pass this opportunity up to select someone who will one day blow us away.
We shan't Faye. We shan't.
Faye, into which place did she effectively place our hearts, her hand or her pocket? I hope pocket and that she never takes off that bepocketed garment in which our hearts reside.
