Van Jones resigned amid a relentless attack from conservatives.
Van Jones today officially resigned from his post as green jobs adviser to President Obama. In his letter of resignation Jones made one last defense of himself saying:
On the eve of historic fights for health care and clean energy, opponents of reform have mounted a vicious smear campaign against me. They are using lies and distortions to distract and divide,
In the end however Jones stated he would rather resign than force Obama administration resources be diverted to his defense. In coming days we will likely find out if this truly was Jones personal decision or if his resignation was done as a result of pressure from the administration.
Conservatives are already reacting to the news of Jones departure with glee. The Jones resignation is being celebrated as the first major successful attack against the Obama administration. The defeat of health care reform may or may not be the second.
In liberal circles the resignation of Van Jones will likely cause some resentment and anger. Many liberals already feel like they are being pushed around on health care reform by what they perceive as a vocal minority. Liberal may begin to see Obama as someone unwilling to stand up to conservatives on major controversies like Van Jones and the public option.
The truth is conservatives are beginning to find their political "groove" once more. The rumors of a GOP death after the losses in the 2006 and 2008 election were greatly exaggerated. Conservatives have regrouped to effectively control the message on health care reform thus far and they have now managed to score a personnel change in the Obama administration. I do not necessarily agree with the conservative methods but I must now concede their effectiveness in shaping policy even as they are the minority.

This has little to do with anybody's groove. It has to do with obummer self destructing. People are realizing that his friends and agenda are a danger to the nation. (that's all good btw)

Van Jones did himself in through his radicalism. All one had to do was play his tapes and videos and let them speak for themselves.
It was the citizens of this country, without regard to political affiliation, expressing their outrage at their elected representatives, who have thus far stopped Obamacare.
The Tea Party I attended did not target a single Democrat for recall and removal, only traitorous Republicans who promised to hold the line on taxes but covered up their complicity in the $50 million tax hike, revealed only when a new GOP representative who voted for the tax hike bragged on NPR that he had the full support of his fellow Republicans. Having been sold out by both political parties and no longer belonging to either, I say get rid of ALL incumbents.
But I am astounded anyone believed Obama was going to be a post-partisan, post-racial president and govern as anything but the radical leftist he is.
It is the smell of victory!
P.S. Far from getting their groove back, the GOP remains, in this conservative's view, spineless and principle-less big-spending beltway elites who do not truly represent the people who elected them. A pox on both houses. All we ask is that politicians get out of the way and stop meddling in our lives.
I knew once Van Jones resigned, all the blogs would spin the story blaming everybody but Jones. Personally, I don't care about Jones, he's insignificant. The million dollar question is did Obama know any of these details about Jones, or did he just forget to vet him. Which brings up another point, does examiner.com vet their examiners?
People in the media and blogs just dont get it. Its not about Repubs finding their "groove". Its about average Americans finally waking up and standing together and saying enough is enough! I dont care what radical beliefs Van Jones has. He has a right to his beliefs. However he should not hold a position in the administration of the American President. An equally radical conservative in a Repub admin would be no more acceptable.
Jones would never have survived a clearing in the senate. These Czars need to be done away with. Bush had them as well, they were just as wrong then. The arrogance of the Obama administration is astounding. They greatly misunderstood what their victory in 2008 meant. That was an election meant to bring in change of the usual politics and fiscal irresponsibility. They took it as an open invitation to "transform America" into something how founders would not recognize.

Jarret pushed Jones in a speech back a ways. She said 'we have been following his work for years.'

I could care less who it helps or hurts, this guy was an enemy of our Republic. If you actually read his statement and WHY he wanted the green job/global warming hoax to work, it is disgusting to any American. This was no "win" for republicans or conservatives.This was a LOSS for people that rely on the mainstream media to do it's job.
That hack Chuck Todd at MSDNC was whining about the lack of "real journalists" in the media today a couple weeks ago.Where was Chuck for this story? Jeez, it only takes a 10 minute search on Google to find everything that Beck reported on Van Jones.

I'm glad Glenn Beck was around when the Iraq War was gearing up. With his piercing questions and journalistic integrity, he was able to get to the bottom of the false WMD claims and he stopped the war. God bless Glenn Beck.
