Video: Van Jones apologizes for 'a**holes' quote directed toward Republicans

Van Jones apologized for the profanity but that will not satisfy many.

In his admission of wrong and subsequent apology Van Jones has now officially given Glenn Beck and conservatives something they claim they wanted.  In a written statement Van Jones apologized for a comment he made in February in which he called Republicans opposing Obama's reform "assholes."  Here is a copy of some of Van Jones apology:

I apologize for the offensive words I chose to use during that speech," Jones said in a written statement to Politico. "They do not reflect the views of this administration, which has made every effort to work in a bipartisan fashion, and they do not reflect the experience I have had since I joined the administration."

I commend Van Jones for apologizing for the remarks.  The remarks were inappropriate and are wrong whether they were made before or after he came into office.

Still I feel like the Van Jones apology will do little to assuage conservatives.  Conservatives seemed very willing to forgive President Bush when he made a similar "asshole" comment toward opponents but I doubt the same credit will be give to Van Jones.

The truth is when it comes to President Bush or Van Jones we should be focused on other things than simply their vocal gaffes.  I was much more concerned about President Bush's disastrous economic policies than his difficulty in saying the word nuclear.  Conservatives, if they are concerned about Van Jones, should point to some actual policies Van Jones is implementing rather than simply pointing toward statements of the past.  For those who say Van Jones is a communist bent on taking over government point me to actual policies he is implementing in his role as green jobs adviser that even lean toward communism.  Until we focus on real policies we are all just a bunch of "A**holes" attacking the other side for no reason.

Sorry, but an apology won't do for saying:

"We're really entering a third wave of environmentalism in the United States. The white polluters and the white environmentalists are essentially steering poison into the people of color communities."

Does anyone really believe that white people are intentionally poisoning minorities? Why does Obama have special advisors out there openly attempting to create an even bigger racial divide with hate and lies?

Simple solution....Whoever the white folks are that are pumping poison in the black neighborhoods simply need to set up shop in his neighborhood....Problem solved!!!

The sad part about Van Jones and his comments is what he is doing to the environmental cause. Why did the Obama administration appoint such a newby to this position and with such a questionable past? Regardless of your political alliance we should all demand that he be replaced with someone who actually cares about the environment and not using it as a way to shield his true adgenda. I care about the environment and think there are hundreds of people who have dedicated decades of their lives to help the cause who would be a much better appointment. Why are writers such as these trying to justify his actions instead of defending the cause for the environment?

Paul, Van Jones will apologize for saying what he did on that youtube clip that you gave a link to, when Rev. Wright apologizes for saying white America, US of KKKA - which is probably never - given their obsessive fixation with the issue of race.

Environmental racism is alive and well and global. Don't kid yourself!!! There have been several documentaries made on how corporations are poisoning various communities, mostly made up of people of color. And we all know that profits supersede people each and every time. This is why Sustainability has become such a big issue. We must require companies to practice Corporate Social Responsibility and make their employees, customers and the environment as important as their profits. We will either thrive together or perish together.
