Video: Utah celebrates the 234th birthday of Marine Corp - Semper Fi

November 10 is the 234th birthday of the US Marine Corps and tomorrow is Veterans' Day so it seems appropriate to celebrate the Marine Corp birthday today. Utah Marines celebrated in their own style with two black-tie events that took place Saturday night.

Thanks to the soldiers who serve and risk their lives every day and to their families.

Ronald Reagan once said, "Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But the Marines don't have that problem."

There aren’t any Marine Corp bases in Utah, but several thousand Marines live here and are celebrating in style this year. The Ogden, Utah Marine Corp celebrated Saturday night with the largest birthday ball the state had ever seen, with 500 people in attendance. Salt Lake City had their own black-tie event on Saturday night, which included Marines from the Salt Lake area all the way down to Saint George, and almost 1,000 people were in attendance.

The video below is from the Commandant of the Marine Corps, General James T. Conway who tells a little of the history of the Marine Corp, their dedication and some of their stories.
