The new red-band trailer for Machete, which we have below, is hilariously NSFW
If you're a fan of Robert Rodriguez, Danny Trejo, or Grindhouse cinema, then you probably already know that Machete hits theaters on September 3rd. The film-- which is really as much a parody of grindhouse movies of the 70's as it is a balls-out action movie-- has had a few trailers released at this point that...well, they just didn't make the movie look very fun, did they? Luckily, Robert Rodriguez, in his infinite wisdowm, has decided to grace us all with a red-band trailer for his latest film. Be aware that the red-band trailer below is incredibly, almost hilariously not-safe-for-work. In other words, if you value your job, you're going to want to hold off on hitting the "Play" button until you get home this evening. See it for yourselves below, my gentle Examiner readers...
Up until now, I've been regarding Machete as an action film first and foremost, a parody of grindhouse-era films second. Then I saw the new red-band trailer for the film that we've embedded below. Right around the time that Danny Trejo jumps out a window and repels down the side of a building while hanging from a guy's internal organs, I realized that Machete is far more satirical than it initially seemed. If you're over 18, not at work, or are looking for a good way to get fired, go ahead and cross through the age gate on this video:
Mmmyeah, it's clear that Rodriguez is playing this one for darkly comic laughs. That thing looks crazy! Seriously, up until this point, I really wasn't all that interested in seeing Machete, and-- based on conversations I've had with some other film geek friends-- that seemed to be the common reaction to the trailer released thus far. But with this red-band trailer, Rodriguez may have added an extra $10m to the film's opening on September 3rd. We'll have to stay tuned to find out, and you can rest assured I'll be keeping you all updated between now and then.

Stay tuned for more on this one as it becomes available, my precious snowflakes. "FAMILY GUY" CREATOR SETH MCFARLANE SIGNS ON TO GIVE DAVID HASSELHOFF A VERY PUBLIC VERBAL BEATDOWN-- in which we learn that Seth McFarlane will be heading up this year's Comedy Central Roast of David Hasselhoff. Gee, I wonder what the comics involved are going to focus on? I bet it doesn't involve the drunken consumption of cheeseburgers.
OFF-TOPIC TIME: NEWLY RELEASED VIDEO GAME "LIMBO" IS THE CREEPIEST THING YOU COULD INVITE INTO YOUR LIVING ROOM-- in which the Comedy Examiner goes off-topic to talk about the newly released video game "Limbo", which is indeed incredibly creepy. Come witness the Comedy Examiner admitting that a video game scared him, just like a little girl!
TRAILER FOR THE "SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD" VIDEO GAME IS JUST AS AWESOME AS THE FILM TRAILER (WITH VIDEO)-- in which we check out the trailer for the video game adaptation of Edgar Wright's Scott Pilgrim VS. The World, which had the coolest trailer we've seen all year. This one's incredibly awesome, as well.
UPDATED WITH VIDEO: LINDSAY LOHAN GETS CONFETTI THROWN ON HER WHILE ON HER WAY TO JAIL (WITH VIDEO)-- in which we look at video footage of Lindsay Lohan getting a big-ass handful of confetti thrown on her as she enters the court to be shipped off to jail. It's pretty much the most satisfying thing that you're going to see all week.
