Video: Steve Perry joins Eels on stage for rare live performance

Steve Perry performed publicly for the first time since the '90s. The former lead singer of Journey made a surprise appearance during a concert by the band Eels on May 25th at Fitzgerald Theater in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Perry first performed with the band on their song " It's a Motherf---er". He then performed Journey hits "Open Arms" and "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin" backed by the band.

Perry is rarely seen at public appearances, so to have an apperance with him actually singing is a rare treat. Perry states in the video that he was a fan of the Eels song then after performing a part of their song, he asked why they never performed any of his music.

Perry left Journey in the late 80s then reunited with the band to record the album "Trial By Fire" in the 90s. The album reached No. 3 on the Billboard chart and went platinum. He has not appeared live with the band since 1991 at a tribute concert for the Bill Graham. His last solo concerts were in 1995, following the release of his last solo album "For the Love of Strange Medicine in 1994.

Perry's recently put together the song selection for a Journey complication CD titled "Greatest Hits- Volume 2". He has stated recently in interviews that he is currently writing new music for a new solo album.
