According to SNL the Tea Party members invite ridicule with their outfits. AP Photo
Last night Saturday Night Lives mock James Carville took his own jabs at the Tea Party. According to fake Carville, the Tea Party invites ridicule because of their dress and signs.
The Tea Party outfit has become good material for political humor over the last year. Frequently Tea Party members get creative with their hats as shown by the lady above. Some adorn their hats with tea bags while others find some colonial style hat. Then some members go "all out" in their colonial war by finding the puffy shirt and boots to compliment the hat. Others engage in some kind of strange mix of colonial garments mixed with modern day clothing featuring their favorite sports team. Then, of course, there are the t-shirts which have explicit political messages written on them. The face of President Obama painted to look like the Joker from Batman is very common. Political slogans that rhyme or bash liberals are also very popular. A slideshow of Tea Party members and their various outfits can be seen here.
The Tea Party has also provided a lot of entertainment with their signs. The face of President Obama with a Hitler mustache has been seen at many rallies. Other times some mention of the right to bear arms is mixed in with a veiled threat against a coming dictatorship. Some of the most interesting signs can be seen here.

That woman with the tea bag hat should also wear a garland of garlic to keep the vampires away. That way she could put all of her energy in to hunting down the 157 clones of Saul Alinsky that have been illegally created and raised on a Marxist Fascist Statist laboratory in remote part of Utah funded entirely by the State run media with help from a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
The SNL "mock" Carville (that scares babies) was funnier than the writer's mockery of tea party costumes and signs.
wait a minute, Tea Partiers are more highly educationed and higher wage earners than the average?
ELITISTS! WE HAVE FOUND THE ELITISTS THAT THE TEA PARTY SAYS IS THE ENEMY!!!!!
SNL is just another part of the MSM that is trying to dumb down America & turn it into an idiocracy.
If you dress "goofy" to get attention, then you shouldn't be surprised if people notice. These folks need some teenagers in the house to "edit" their clothing choices. SNL is doing nothing that they haven't always done. Like it or hate it. But to infer they used to be more "correct" would be ludicrous.
From the description I'd say the Tea party sounds like they are grass roots. What was Pelosi thinking? Or... Was she lying again? She is such a kidder. Did you see the video of how she described their rhetoric as "frightening". She was scared!
I am kind of glad people are having fun with it, and they should. I know political satire does have an affect but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Not only have the Tea party guys shown good citizenship but this year there are a lot of political candidates that would like to have their votes.
I think that if Saul Alynsky were still alive today he would wear his lederhosen and announce Keith Olbermann as his running mate in 2012 with Chris Dodd and Barnie Frank in charge of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
it seems that only conservatives know and study Saul Alinsky...almost to the point of becoming subversives themselves...most liberals/progressives never even heard of Saul Alinsky or cared about him.
Walrus:
Yep, I keep meaning to google this Saul guy to find out if I am for him or again' him.
@ Ig: since you are too "foo foo" to look it up I found this for my conservative friends. Oh... You were trying to make a point.
1. Power is not only what you have, but what an opponent thinks you have
2. Never go outside the experience of your people
3. Whenever possible, go outside the experience of an opponent
4. Make opponents live up to their own book of rules
5. Ridicule is mans most potent weapon
6. A good tactic is one your people enjoy
7. A tactic that drags on for too long becomes a drag
8. Keep the pressure on. Use different tactics and actions and use all events of the period for your purpose
9. The threat is more terrifying than the thing itself
The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative
10. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, polarize it Identify a RESPONSIBLE individual. Ignore attempts to shift or spread the blame.
According to Alinsky the main job of the organizer is to bait an opponent to react.
Does this sound familiar?
OK so I finally looked up Rules for Radicals myself. Very enlightening. I should have looked it up a long time ago.
I have to admit you guys have given me good practice.
Frumpy Barnfinckle taught me rule 10. [Avoid being trapped by an opponent who says, Okay, what would you do?] I can't believe I fell for that. Conservatives and Liberals usually do. Never again.
This isn't just a game. There is a battle being waged right now for the heart and soul of America and if we don't tough it out and put energy on target we'll lose it. The constitution must be preserved!
Opps! sorry. Rule 10: The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative. Avoid being trapped by an opponent or an interviewer who says, Okay, what would you do?
Again as a responsible person my deepest apologies.
@klatoo
you missed our point...we couldn't care less about Alinsky...he serves no pupose in our lives...I wasn't interested enough to google him, what makes you think I would even read your take on him????? Alinsky is a non-interest to us...you are the subversive that is obssesed with him and what he has (had?) to say...it would be like me accusing you of following the "rules of racists" by David Duke....I am hoping you would have no interest in it.
Klatoo you are nuttier than a fruitcake. I hadn't even heard of Saul Alinsky until about a six months ago but according to you I'm some kind of third degree black belt when using his techniques to debate conservatives.
walrus: Dufuss. What do you mean "We"? You think way too much of yourself dude. If you look again I referred to the fact -Ig- was trying to make a point or should I say being obtuse. What makes you think I was talking to you. Your shameless wasted opinions are not very high on my radar. And of course you don't care. (Your words not mine.)There isn't much you have to care about. Radical leadership depends upon blind obedience. Do you find your servile nature to be satisfying?
@ Fumpy Barnfinkle: You're a third degree moron is about all. You spew hate speech like Niagra Falls moves water. I never heard of him either until a few months ago. I picked up on your insipid tawdry stupid tricks on my own. Then I read the "rules" and said, "Hey just like Frumpy."
And your debating skills, Ugh. You debate conservatives like a looney tune.
Klatoo I would really like to see you provide at least one example of post that I've made that you consider to be hate speech.
This shouldn't take more than a couple of days....
If 'make fun' means 'ridicule', then why is that a 'news' story?
Gigi, I think Ryan is using Saul Alynski's rules for radicals #47.
#46. Build an underground canal system to secretly drain the great lakes.
#47. Present topics on a public forum and then allow for discussion.
#48. Use a Dirigible to drop leaflets containing Marxist literature.
Frumpy,
It's not our fault the loser left let the cat out of the bag about Alinksy. You're not 'ridiculing' me for making the observation that libs love to 'ridicule' their opponents instead of debate them are you? How clever and original of you.
Hey Gigi, I'm still waiting for someone to show me a sample of my hate speech.
Got something to say?
