When Legoland Florida held its official announcement of the World of Chima project today, members of the media were able to get a view of the construction site where the fanciful new area is quickly coming together in anticipation of its July opening. As you can see in the video toward the bottom of this article, the land is cleared and the heavy equipment is hard at work.
The media also saw artist's renderings of what the World of Chima will look like. The video shows those renderings and gives a hint of what the massive Lion Temple and the watery Quest for CHI boat ride will look like when they make their debut. The boat ride will take riders through animal tribal habitats like the Rhino Quarry, Raven's Roost, Eagle's Nest, Wolves Encampment, Gorilla Forest, and the Crocodile Swamp.
Other Chima-based attractions will include a 4D movie and a Speedorz arena where kids can build and race Speedorz. Laval the Lion Prince and Cragger the Crocodile King will also be on hand for daily character greetings.
The World of Chima is the largest expansion at Legoland Florida since its October, 2011, opening. Its previous additions include the Fresh From Florida greenhouse, the Warner Brothers Games Zone, and the Star Wars section of Miniland USA, and eateries like the Fried Chicken Company. However, the Legoland Water Park, next door to the main park, does beat the new area in size.
