Video shows St. Patty's Day preview at Raglan Road (March 8 to 10 and 14 to 17)

Like most holidays, St. Patrick's Day lasts longer than just one day at Walt Disney World. Raglan Road, the popular Irish restaurant and pub at Downtown Disney, is the center of the celebration, with two weekends of fun. The excitement begins on March 8 to 10, then starts up again and really goes into high gear between March 14 and 17.

If you're wondering what it's like, click the video toward the bottom of this article for a brief sampling. It hits on the high points of the Raglan Road St. Patrick's Day celebration, from delicious food and drinks to live music to Irish dancing and dance workshops.

As you can see by the video, the Raglan Road celebration is family friendly. There are plenty of kids' choices on the menu, and younger family members love to get out on the dance floor and try out some Irish dance moves. Parents enjoy kicking back with a pint of Guinness and enjoying the bands.

Of course you can get a traditional meal of loin of bacon and cabbage at Raglan Road for the holiday, but you'll find plenty of other Irish menu items if you're in the mood for something else. The entertainment runs every day of the event and culminates with a performance by famous U2 tribute band Elevation on the final Saturday and Sunday.

Allow enough time to spend at the restaurant and exploring the rest of Pleasure Island, since you'll find festivities all around the area. Parking at Downtown Disney is free, or you can use internal transportation if you're staying at a Disney resort.
