Chocolate Kingdom is one of the newest attractions in Kissimmee. Nestled next to Fun Spot, it's a chocolate factory and shop that takes you behind the scenes to teach you the history of chocolate and show you how it's made.
What was the inspiration behind the tour, and why did this attraction locate in Kissimmee? Click the video at lower left to hear from owner Edgar Schaked, who comes from three generations of chocolatiers. As a co-founder of Schakolad Chocolate Factory, he knows the business in and out. Chocolate Kingdom lets him share his passion and educate others about this tasty confection.
You'll find a slideshow of the actual tour in this previous article. Schaked framed it in a story with a handsome prince, lovely princess, and comedic dragon sidekick to make it family friendly. As he says in the interview, he noticed that kids quickly get bored in museums with static exhibits.
Even though his tour covers the history of chocolate, it's done in an engaging way. The tour guide brings the history to life, and samples make it a multi-sensory experience. Then, of course, there's the actual factory, with working machines and a tasty treat at the end.
Chocolate Kingdom is open daily from noon to 8 p.m., with tours every hour. The cost is $15 for adults and $12 for kids. The attraction is only a few minutes away from Walt Disney World, near the intersection of I-4 and Highway 192.
