Video shows full Disney fashion show for Festival of Fantasy parade preview

On February 10, 2014, the media was treated a a red carpet fashion show highlighting the amazing costumes that guests will see when the Festival of Fantasy parade debuts in the Magic Kingdom in March. If you'd like a ringside seat, click the video accompanying this article to see the full parade of costumes.

The fashion show included apparel from each of the seven floats, including The Princess Garden, Tangled, The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan, Brave, Sleeping Beauty, and the Finale with Mickey's Airship. The costumes were designed by the talented Mirena Rada, whose previous work has graced Disneyland, Tokyo Disney, and Hong Kong Disneyland.

As you'll see in the video, Mirena's design work for Festival of Fantasy covers a wide spectrum, from traditional costumes for the Swan Court couples accompanying the princess float to some Lady Gaga inspiration for the seashell headpiece on the Little Mermaid float to creative animal touches for the Lost Boys and a raven with a 12 foot wingspan and a thorn-covered stilt walker for the steampunk-style Maleficent dragon float.

You'll also learn lots of fun facts in the video about the costume materials, construction, and inspirations. For example, the Bubble Girl costume that accompanies Mickey Mouse's float at the end of the parade weighs only five pounds, and the beak of the raven costume was created using 3D printing technology.

During the walks down the runway, you'll also get a sneak peek at some of the parade's performance elements and choreography, including Newsies-inspired antics by the Lost Boys, a thorny stilt walker, and an amazingly mobile sea horse.
