In a press conference Thursday evening, police stated that preliminary autopsy results found that Shaniya Davis was raped before she died, and the cause of death was strangulation. Shaniya Davis is the 5 year old girl who went missing November 10 and whose body was found Monday. The police stated that testing is still being completed and a final report has not been issued in the death of Shaniya Davis. See video below for the police press conference.
A hotel surveillance video identified Mario Andrette McNeill as the man who kidnapped Shaniya. She was last seen being carried by McNeill into a hotel room. McNeill, 29 had been charged with first degree kidnapping, but will now be charged with first degree murder and first degree rape of a child.
People had been searching for the body in North Carolina after the police indicated that they had reliable information that Shaniya Davis was dead.
Searchers focused their search on the land near a specific roadway, because "reliable information received that the body of Shaniya Davis may have been dumped there," a police statement said.
Shaniya’s mother, Antoinette Nicole Davis was charged with human trafficking, felony child abuse, prostitution and filing a false police report on Saturday. Shaniya Davis was reported missing on Tuesday, November 10 by her mother.
Human trafficking is a growing problem around the country, including Utah. It is one of the top three most profitable hidden industries. The Utah Human Trafficking task force includes two agencies that are funded through the US Dept of Justice. They support efforts to investigate and prosecute cases, and help victims, according to the FBI office in Salt Lake City.

Just a thought, but the call her mom made may be real-- she probably was worried because she usually leaves the door open so the men could do their dirty deed on the couch, which is why she put her there, but he took her instead....I believe that's what happened and it will haunt Antoinette the rest of her pathetic life !!
This is a tragic story. When i seen this come across the TV, i broke into tears. He know he was wrong and Shaniya's mother know she was wrong so i am happy that she is know in the hands of god and i hope god bless thae family for all they have been through.

Antionette Davis,Mario McNeil,and all others involved in the mistreatment of Shaniya Davis are garbage.Shaniya did not persdeserve all of the awful,horrfic things that happened to her.All scum involved will definitely pay and the pay will be very,very horrfic,they will wish they were never hatched.I have never,ever heard of such un-civilized acts.
Few things 1st Brad Lockhart needs to be charged. Antionette should be put to death. As for Mario, I have a relative that works on the ward where he is being held, and after what he has confessed to her i now feel that life or death is to good for this one. He needs to be released into the custody of Real Justice so JUSTICE for Shaniya can be served. His did kill her by strangling her. Its to graphic to say but he needs to be tortured!!!!
